The project was also featured on the Howard Stern Show, local NYC radio, and a number of foreign television broadcasts.
This project generated a good deal of attention. Some people chose to interview me about it and others chose to riff off of other peoples write ups. Few that reported on the piece got a chance to actually see the installation for themselves, which happens the way most intallation art was meant to be experienced - in person.
As a result, the piece seems to have been greatly misinterpreted by some. In fact, there were a fair amount of assumptions made and misrepresented information on the project. Some individuals even blatantly made things up in their articles.
What started as a "tongue-in-cheek" write up by a writer for New York Magazine Online (written by someone who had actually seen the piece), soon turned into the definitive write up. The tone in the article was followed in an evolving game of "telephone". I found it to be somewhat amusing, but also kind of poor journalism.
But either way - thanks for the press!
For the record:
-I did not create this as a product for "lonely people", "traders" or "lawyers".
-The part about being able to invoke a reaction by kissing the projection isn't true.
-I never made any comparison to a "blow up doll."
-It was not intended to be a "virtual girlfriend." It is just an art installation that hopefully could inspire some emotion.
